Snow much fun: March activities that leverage the unlimited snow

PARK CITY, Utah — March is when people start emerging from their winter quasi-hibernations and when warm weather and sunshine feel like they’re within reach. March also marks the heaps of spring breakers who fly in from all over the country to experience ‘The Greatest Snow on Earth.’

This month, with loads of snow to enjoy, and possibly more to come, take advantage of the days as we inch toward spring. Whether your family is itching for non-skiing outdoor activities or wants to try something new, here are some local activities that all ages will enjoy.

Snowshoeing at Wasatch State Park

Snowshoeing is growing in popularity for being an accessible winter sport that is easy to learn. All you need are a few inches of snow, snowshoes, and a relatively flat trail. Essentially, if you can hike, you can snowshoe!

One of the best places to snowshoe is at Wasatch State Park. Located in Heber Valley at the site of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, Wasatch Mountain State Park is a winter sport enthusiast’s paradise. There is plenty of wilderness area to explore for all levels of snowshoers. Immerse yourself in the backcountry, or try a guided snowshoe hike based out of the Wasatch Mountain State Park Visitor’s Center. If you are feeling really adventurous, the park has 125 camping spots available, including sites with full hookups and cabins.

Park City Resort Outdoor Ice Rink

Park City’s only outdoor ice skating rink. Centered at the base of Park City Mountain Resort, the rink offers ice skating for all ages with daily hours and no limit on skate time. With an ambient setting of pine trees, lights, and upbeat music, you’ll be in the mood for a great time. Rent sharp hockey or figure skates. The rink also offers warm beverages and complimentary skate walkers for children. The rink is nestled next to local shops and restaurants to check out while you’re there.

Woodward Park City Tubing Adventure
