Park City Fashion Week ‘bringing runway to the Rockies’
DEER VALLEY, Utah — It’s that time of year again when Park City transforms from a quaint mountain resort town to a notable arts and fashion mecca. What better way to join in on the fun than attending Park City Fashion Week on January 22 at the Goldener Hirsch Resort in Deer Valley? Between risk-taking runway looks and classic style, experienced (and up-and-coming creators) will showcase their collections.
Kim Kienow founded Fashion Weeks of Utah and launched her first show under that umbrella, Park City Fashion Week, in 2020. As a long-time model herself, Kienow wanted to “bring the runway to the Rockies” and share her passion for the creatives in the industry.
Kienow moved to Utah from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to attend Utah State University, where she earned a degree in Interior Design with a minor in marketing. In 2019, Kienow began teaching in Salt Lake Community College’s fashion department and fashion show production.
“I wanted to bring people together to show people from around the world what we do in Utah when the world shows up in Park City,” said Kienow. “Our first show in 2020 went great; we really want to have a ‘wow” show again. I have realized that people really rely on me because they need a platform. Creatives matter to me, clothing is an art form, so I want that platform available. I love it.”
Kienow has gathered another eclectic group of six vibrant designers who are soon to become your favorites. Local designer, makeup artist, and hairstylist Heggy Gonzalez and local designer Davis Hong, best known for his sleek style, are a few of the ‘household names’ you may recognize.
“I look at experience, quality, and aesthetics when choosing a designer to be in the show,” Kienow said. “I look to have a balance, a good variety based on my discretion. I have a requirement that they have the ability to sell pieces; they need to be able to fulfill an order.”
The experience includes a cocktail hour, live music, and SWAG for the VIP ticket holders.
