Green Reads book club talks sustainability and stewardship with “Braiding Sweetgrass”
PARK CITY, Utah — Park City Library invites readers to its Green Reads book club. On November 17, Green Reads will discuss “Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teaching of Plants” by Robin Kimmerer. The discussion will take place at the library’s Sustainability Center at 5 p.m.
Participants can listen to or read the book, listen to a podcast, read an article, or do all three for this month’s topic. Each topic is chosen to encourage participants to learn more about sustainability and environmental awareness at home and in our community.
“Green Reads is a book club that focuses on sustainable and environmental-themed books and topics,” said Kate Mapp, adult services librarian at the Park City Library. “The book club occurs in the Park City Library’s Sustainability Center. ‘Braiding Sweetgrass’ was chosen in partnership with Summit Land Conservancy to help us understand and explore ideas from indigenous knowledge about land stewardship and humanity’s relationship to the earth.”
