Park City asks residents to participate in evacuation exercise
PARK CITY, Utah – Park City Municipal is seeking volunteers to participate in a wildfire evacuation exercise to be held on Wednesday, September 28th, from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.
This exercise will be conducted in collaboration with numerous emergency preparedness partners. Community participation is key to the event’s success as it is designed to help residents consider their personal logistics, their roles, and the many possible emergency scenarios that could result in an evacuation of the City.
“To ensure this exercise is as realistic as possible – community participation is essential,” said Park City Emergency Manager Mike McComb. “We ask that residents consider participating so we are all better prepared should the real thing become necessary.”
Although summer is winding down, fire risk in the area is still high. There have been recent wildfires, including a wildfire in Lamb’s Canyon earlier this week. The Park City Fire District recommends citizens to prepared in the case of evacuation, and to have a 72-hour survival kit prepped.
To register for the evacuation drill, please refer to the Park City Municipal website. Registration closes on September 15th.
