Alterra Mountain Company acquires Park City based Ski Butlers
WASATCH COUNTY, Utah – Alterra Mountain Company announced in a press release that it has acquired ski equipment rental and delivery company Ski Butlers. Ski Butlers will continue to function as a standalone business and to provide services to 50 ski destinations across the world.
TownLift spoke with Mike Cremeno, CRO of Ski Butlers to discuss the acquisition.
Cremeno emphasized that the entire process was “super clean, and will keep us as a standalone entity lead by the same team.” He continued by saying that Alterra Mountain Company was interested in Ski Butlers for their team and approach to customer service in particular, which has allowed Cremeno and other leadership to continue “running the business how they want.”
“We’ve always known we could grow faster with more resources, and that is what Alterra is bringing to the table. They wanted the best ski equipment delivery company in the world, and they came to us.”
When asked about how the acquisition felt in more personal terms, Cremeno said that he feels “like the whole thing is cool for a local Park City company, and for the Park City community as well.” Ski Butlers is completely homegrown, according to Cremeno, and has relied entirely on internal profit since its founding. “We have over 70 employees in Park City,” reports Cremeno.
Ski Butlers has been led by CEO Bryn Carey since 2004, when it was founded. Carey commented on the acquisition saying, “We believe Alterra Mountain Company can help us scale our business to reach as many skiers and riders as possible while staying true to the ethos of our team and the experience our customers expect.”
Jared Smith, CEO of Alterra Mountain Company, said the following about the acquisition:
“The Ski Butlers team has set the standard for guest satisfaction in the ski industry. As we continue to invest in building out a premier guest experience at each of our destinations, partnering with Ski Butlers is a natural addition.”
Ski Butler is already available at Alterra Mountain Company destinations including Steamboat, Palisades Tahoe, and Deer Valley Resort. It is currently planning to keep expanding its services, with its eyes set on Alterra’s Mammoth Mountain for the 2022-23 season.
