Park City native releases debut album with Cam Gallagher & the Tasty Soul
PARK CITY, Utah – As the band’s name might suggest, Cam Gallagher & the Tasty Soul are led by Cameron Gallagher, a Park City native. Gallagher graduated from Park City high school in 2017 and attended the University of Utah, where he studied music. Gallagher was heavily involved in the high school’s band program and now writes and produces his own music.
Cam Gallagher & the Tasty Soul are not your average band; Gallagher explained how the group is not a set band but a ‘funk collective.’ The collective comprises over 30 members and typically performs with 4-11 musicians, who interchange based on availability and scheduling.
When explaining the group’s style of music, Gallagher told Townlift, “We’re rooted in jazz, rock, soul, and R&B, but at our core, we’re definitely a funk band.” While Gallagher plays the saxophone, the group includes vocalists and is diverse in terms of instruments.
The group released their debut album, ‘Funk Out,’ just last week. Their album is available on all streaming platforms, and they are performing live in Park City twice this weekend. They are performing Friday at 6 p.m. at the Newpark Amphitheater, and again on Saturday, as they are performing at 6:30 p.m. on the main stage at the Kimball Arts Festival.
Gallagher is the band’s leader, meaning he organizes everything related to the group. He writes the lyrics and music in their songs and distributes hard copies to the group. Support a local Park City artist this weekend and catch Cam Gallagher & the Tasty Soul in action at either event.
