Byron Ames drops out of Summit County Council race
SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Former Francis Mayor Byron Ames withdrew from the race for Summit County Council Seat E on Thursday.
John ‘Jack’ Murphy, a financial services professional with a focus on residential and commercial real estate, is now the likely Republican nominee. The Summit County Republican Party will hold its nominating convention on Tuesday at South Summit Middle School at 6 pm.
At the last minute, Murphy switched from unaffiliated to the GOP “in order to give voice to the families and small businesses that were not served by those in given power.”
Other contenders in the race include Democratic nominee Canice Harte and libertarian Michael Franchek.
