Officers arrest car thief after police chase through Jeremy Ranch
PARK CITY, Utah — Following the second police pursuit through Jeremy Ranch in a week, Summit County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 33-year-old Andrew Philip Taylor, of Salt Lake City on Wednesday morning.
On March 23, 2022, at 8:50 a.m. Summit County Sheriff’s Office received a phone call from a Fruit Heights, Utah man who claimed his 2018 Toyota Corolla was stolen from a gas station in Salt Lake City earlier Wednesday morning. The Fruit Heights man then mentioned that his phone was in the car at the time it was stolen and proceeded to use Find My iPhone to locate his phone and vehicle.
The vehicle owner then alerted Summit County Deputies that his phone’s location was emitting from Jeremy Ranch.
A Summit County Sheriff’s Deputy near Jeremy Ranch was then dispatched and located the stolen vehicle in a church parking lot. After the deputy ordered the man in the vehicle to show his hands, the suspect sped away, leading deputies on an intense chase.
Deputies pursued the stolen vehicle through Jeremy Ranch. As the suspect was driving on Daybreaker Drive, a truck leaving a residence was blocking the road. The suspect attempted to swerve around the truck but lost control, and crashed the stolen vehicle into a tree in the front yard of a home.
Upon crashing, the suspect fled on foot and ran through several residential yards. Deputies caught up with the suspect, Andrew Taylor, on Upper Lando Lane. A deputy then deployed his taser on Taylor and safely took him into custody.
After being evaluated at a medical facility, Taylor was booked into the Summit County Jail on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, and three warrants, two of which are No Bail.
The charges include Possession of Stolen Vehicle (Felony 2), Evading (Felony 3), Failure to Stop at Command of Police (A Misdemeanor), Possession of a Controlled Substance (A Misdemeanor) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (B Misdemeanor)
