Live Like Sam Foundation Awards Grant to Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation

PARK CITY, Utah — The Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation’s commitment to its Healthy Communities Initiative and their mission to impact Utah’s youth received a significant boost on Tuesday, after receiving a generous $10,000 Live Like Sam Foundation grant.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation and supporting their Healthy Communities Initiative, and providing a $10,000 grant,” said Ron Jackenthal, Sam’s father and Live Like Sam founder.

A Park City based organization, the Live Like Same Foundation honors the life and legacy of Sam Jackenthal, a former Park City Ski and Snowboard, and Flying Ace All-Stars professional jumping team athlete.

“Our organization’s missions are so closely aligned, making this an incredibly natural and impactful partnership,” Jackenthal continued. “Our family and foundation have had an incredibly special relationship with the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation. Utah Olympic Park is not only where Sam got his start competing in skiing at age six but is also where over 1,400 community members gathered for Sam’s celebration of life in 2015.”

The donation will fund and support the Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation’s Healthy Communities Initiative and Scholarship Fund, which celebrates racial, gender and economic diversity by introducing low-to-moderate income youth to new sporting opportunities. This is achieved by providing local schools, physical education classes and at-risk programs with transportation, equipment, field time, and instruction within Utah’s communities.

“Our Healthy Communities Initiative and Scholarship Fund would not exist without generous support from organizations like Live Like Sam Foundation, a foundation that celebrates the attributes that we wish to instill in Utah’s youth through our winter sport programs,” Colin Hilton, Utah Olympic Legacy Foundation’s president and CEO said.
