U.S. Ski & Snowboard hires former Vice Media exec to lead marketing efforts
PARK CITY, Utah — On Wednesday U.S. Ski & Snowboard announced the appointment of Guy Slattery as its new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).
Slattery started his own media consulting firm at the end of 2020, after serving as VICE Media‘s CMO for a little more than one year. Before being promoted CMO, for five years he was the president and general manager of VICELAND, VICE’s Emmy award-winning television channel.
“Being a ski and snowboard enthusiast myself, I understand the passion and commitment that athletes, teams and brands bring to snow sports, and I look forward to helping raise the national and global profiles of all involved,” Slattery said in a statement.
“I’m thrilled to work at the epicenter of this culture, and I’m looking forward to working with Sophie to continue building on the organization’s storied legacy.”
With the new job, Slattery will be responsible for all aspects of brand development and communications. He will report to President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sophie Goldschmidt, according to the press release announcing the appointment.
He will oversee the strategy and execution of U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s marketing, communications, social media, broadcasts, content development, events and creative services to grow the organization’s fan base and maximize revenue streams, and opportunities with media, brands and influencers.
Slattery will be relocating from New York to Park City.
Before joining VICE, Slattery was the executive vice president of marketing at A+E Networks, which includes the History Channel and Lifetime, and has grown to one of the top five entertainment networks in cable in recent years.
Prior to his time at A+E, he led marketing and communications for the National Geographic Channel globally and held leadership roles at Sky UK, Star TV Asia, and MGM.
