Calls for service: Police and sheriff logs

Calls for service to the Park City Police Department (PCPD) and the Summit County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) for the week of January 31 – February 5.

MONDAY (1/31):

  • SCSODeputies responded to a call about a woman who had been shot near Echo. Deputies arrived on the scene and began providing aid until medical personnel arrived. AirMed also responded to help with lifesaving efforts. Unfortunately, the 58-year-old Salt Lake County woman died from her injuries. The bullet hit the woman in the waist/pelvic area. She died at the scene and was not transported. The investigation is ongoing, including an autopsy of the woman.
  • PCPD — Officers assisted an intoxicated male after he tripped and fell in the roadway on Main Street. Officers remained on scene with the patient until EMS arrived to access the patient.

TUESDAY:

  • SCSO — Deputies were dispatched to a domestic incident.  Contact was made with the complainant who reported being choked and assaulted by her husband.  The complainant described the 35-year-old Francis man grabbing her phone and throwing it on the ground.  The couple’s 3-month-old infant was present when the events occurred.  The male was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail and booked on a charge of domestic aggravated assault, domestic criminal mischief, domestic in the presence of a child.
  • SCSO — A deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation. During the traffic stop, the odor of raw marijuana was detected coming from the cabin of the vehicle; a subsequent vehicle search revealed user amounts of marijuana and paraphernalia. The marijuana and paraphernalia were collected and booked into evidence. The driver, a 23-year-old Park City man, was issued a citation for the violations and released from the traffic stop.
  • SCSO — Deputies arrived at the Michael Kors outlet store after being dispatched to a theft.  The complainant stated that a male and female, working together, walked into the store just prior to closing and then left the store with stolen merchandise. The complainant stated that the pair got into a vehicle that was apparently waiting for them at the curb and then departed towards the parking lot exit.  The initial reported value of total stolen merchandise exceeds $3,400.

WEDNESDAY:

  • PCPD — Officers responded to welfare checks on male with suicidal ideations, who left the snow creek clinic. The male was later contacted by police and agreed to voluntary commit for mental health evaluation at the hospital. An Officer took a past occurred domestic violence report in the Bald Eagle area.
  • PCPD — Officers investigated a past occurred burglary at a local business. The owner reported that a recently terminated employee gained unauthorized access after closing and stole items. The case is under investigation. Officers responded to Sidewinder Drive on a report of a man with a gun. Officers eventually located the male and determined he was experiencing a psychiatric episode. The gun turned out to be a pellet gun and the male was transported to PKMC for an evaluation.

THURSDAY:

  • SCSO — A vehicle was stopped for no insurance.  During the traffic stop, it was discovered that the female passenger later identified as a 31-year-old West Valley woman had several active warrants for her arrest for drug-related crimes.  The woman was taken into custody and a search incident to arrest revealed an ID card that did not belong to her, and small amounts of methamphetamine and heroin laced with fentanyl.

FRIDAY:

  • SCSO — Deputies responded to a domestic violence incident at the given location. The victim called in to report that her ex-boyfriend had kicked in the door of her apartment and stole her dog. The male suspect, a 28-year-old Heber City man, and dog were located shortly afterward in the suspect’s vehicle on Bitner Rd where deputies initiated a traffic stop.

SATURDAY:

  • SCSO — At 11:34 pm deputies responded to a report from Union Pacific that an eastbound freight train had struck an occupied passenger vehicle near mm 196 on the Utah side of the Utah/Wyoming border.  On arrival, it was determined that the sole occupant of the passenger vehicle was deceased. The male was identified as a 47-year-old male from Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  Alcohol use is suspected.
