Smoke haze to increase in Summit County

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — In a statement on Tuesday, Summit County said residents should expect increasing smoke haze in the coming days.

Currently, there are no wildfires actively burning in the county. Residents are being asked to not report a fire unless they see a defined column of smoke.

The Utah Department of Environmental Quality said the current air environment is unhealthy for sensitive groups. That population is encouraged to reduce prolonged or heavy exertion.

“It’s OK to be active outside, but take more breaks and do less intense activities,” the department says.
