The pandemic is still going on in Utah
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah. — COVID-19 cases in Utah are beginning to match levels of March earlier this year. The Utah Department of Health reported 540 new cases yesterday. That was a decrease from the 574 announced on Wednesday.
Case counts have increased 33% in the past two weeks. That follows a similar trend around the country – cases in Nevada are up 114% in the last 14 days.
On Thursday, Gov. Spencer Cox said “we have the answer to all of this. And the answer isn’t to restrictions, the answer isn’t to destroy people’s jobs, the answer isn’t to force people to wear masks, the answer is to get vaccinated.”
Roughly 61% of all eligible Utahns (12+) have received their first vaccine dose. 58% of all residents in Summit County have been fully vaccinated. In Wasatch County, 34% are fully vaccinated. Salt Lake County is slightly higher at 42%.
