DESCRIPTION:Back 2 School Basics meets the needs of families in Summit and Wasatch counties by relieving some of the financial burdens of back-to-school shopping. Each participating student receives a gift card to spend at Junction Commons\, a new backpack\, and school supplies of their choosing. This program is supported by volunteers who give of their time\, donors who sponsor children\, and by grant funding. \nBack 2 School Basics serves roughly 1\,600 students from Summit County\, Wasatch County\, and the Confederated Tribes of the Goshute Reservation in Ibapah\, Utah. We’ll work together to remove decommissioned barbed wire fencing\, helping to restore wildlife movement and improve the health of the landscape. \nWhat to Bring & Wear: Wear long pants\, long sleeves\, and sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots. Pack sun protection (hat\, sunglasses\, sunscreen)\, water and snacks\, and layers in case of changing weather. Please bring sunglasses to act as protective eyewear! Participants should bring thick\, sturdy gloves for their protection and wire cutters if they have them. Summit County has a limited number of gloves and wire cutters to borrow. \nSafety Notice: Participation in barbed wire removal can be dangerous. Hazards may include cuts\, punctures\, scrapes\, tripping\, heavy lifting\, sharp edges\, and exposure to rusted metal or other environmental risks. By signing up and attending this activity\, you acknowledge these risks\, accept full responsibility for your participation\, and agree to the terms of the waiver. A recent tetanus vaccination is recommended\, though it is not required.
