Miners beat Beetdiggers in straight sets, extend winning streak to six

PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City High School girls volleyball team extended its winning streak to six matches Wednesday night, sweeping Jordan High School 25-20, 25-15, 25-18 at home.

The Miners improved to 8-4 overall and 4-0 in region play.

“It was a great game. We did a nice job trying to execute some of the things we’re working on,” head coach Bethany Byers told TownLift after the match.

Byers said the team is still finding its rhythm with a roster that includes four seniors but relatively few returning varsity players.

“We have a lot of young ladies who are new to playing together, and two returners from last year’s varsity team, along with a couple of JV girls from last year who played up,” Byers said. “Some new faces are figuring out how to play next to each other in really positive ways.”

The evening also came with a home-court bonus. Sophomore setter Aislyn Smith’s family brought enough freshly baked cookies to feed the players and other teens in attendance, continuing a tradition her mother also brings to Smith’s golf matches.
