Wasatch County Library to host free America250 traveling exhibition

HEBER CITY, Utah — Wasatch County Library will host a traveling exhibition this summer that explores how communication shaped the American Revolution, offering residents a chance to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary through history, storytelling and interactive learning.

“The Pen Is Mightier: Writing a Revolution” will be on display at the library, 465 E. 1200 South in Heber City, from Aug. 3 through Sept. 26. The free exhibition is open to visitors of all ages.

Created as part of the America250 commemoration, the exhibit examines the role communication played in America’s fight for independence. Through 20 curated panels, visitors will learn how Revolutionary leaders used newspapers, pamphlets, letters, printing presses, secret codes and even signals using sound, light and music to spread ideas, organize supporters and sustain the movement for independence.

Library Director Juan Lee said the exhibition complements the library’s broader efforts to connect the community with American history.

“Wasatch County Library is proud to embrace the America250 Utah celebration by offering programs and experiences that connect our community with our nation’s history,” Lee said in a statement. “From our family-friendly Summer Reading program and local history speaker series to historic quilts, community concerts, and now The Pen Is Mightier: Writing a Revolution, we are excited to help bring America’s story to life.”

Lee added that the library is grateful to the Utah Division of Arts & Museums’ Traveling Exhibition Program for bringing the exhibit to the Wasatch Back and hopes visitors leave inspired by “the enduring power of words and ideas to strengthen communities and democracy.”

The exhibition is one of many America250 Utah programs taking place statewide ahead of the United States’ 250th anniversary in 2026.

Admission is free. For more information about exhibit hours and library programming, visit the Wasatch County Library website.
