SALT LAKE CITY — Park City beat Brighton 10 – 6 on Saturday at the Zions Bank Stadium taking the title of Utah High School State Champions for boys lacrosse.

They play up a category from 4A, where the majority of the Miners compete, into 5A. Six unanswered points came for the Miners in the action-packed second quarter of the finals game.
Park City got there by beating East High in the semifinals on Wednesday, May 20, 10 – 6. Prior to that, the quarterfinals were won by the Miners against Olympus High 12 – 5.

The girls’ lacrosse team from Park City High School also won their own State Championships tournament on Thursday.
“Everyone just wanted this victory so much – the players, the coaches and the fans,” Senior Miner #22 Tommy Fannon told TownLift. “We knew that the guy next to us was willing to do whatever it took to win, and we knew we had to fight until the end.”

After the semis, he said, “We’re well-prepared for the State Championship and want to take home the title for our seniors since most of us have never won one.” His sister, Ashley, also graduated from PCHS and is a junior at the U. Their mom, Liz, the owner of Park City’s Switchback Sports, isn’t just a supporter of her son’s sport; she sells Miners merch at her store, one of two local retailers, the other being Beau Collective.
Park City High School Head Coach Mike Persky enjoyed this win with these players and his five Assistant Coaches, including family member Eric.
Miners Goal Keeper Max Gordon, a senior, had a stellar season out-performing his counterpart competitors, putting up impressive stats.
