Local Republicans will elect delegates during Summit County caucus night March 17

PARK CITY, Utah — Summit County Republican Party leaders are inviting registered Republicans to participate in the county’s 2026 Caucus Night on March 17, when party members will gather across the county to elect delegates and local party leadership.

Registration begins at 6 p.m., with meetings starting at 7 p.m. at three locations throughout Summit County. All registered Republicans living in the county are eligible to attend and participate.

Caucus Night is a key step in the Republican nominating process in Utah. At the precinct level, party members meet with neighbors to elect delegates who will represent them at upcoming county and state conventions, where Republican candidates for public office are selected.

The meetings also allow participants to elect local party leadership positions within their precincts. Registered Republicans may choose to run for roles including Precinct Chair, County Delegate, or State Delegate, provided they live in the precinct where they are seeking election.

According to caucus organizers, the gatherings are structured working meetings rather than campaign-style events.

“This is where the direction of the party is shaped,” organizers said in a release. “It is not a rally or a primary election. It is a working meeting where registered Republicans in each precinct choose the individuals who will represent them in the convention process.”

Caucus Chair Tory Welch emphasized the importance of grassroots participation.

“Caucus Night is where grassroots Republicans come together to shape the future of the party,” Welch said. “Whether you’ve participated before or this is your first time, your voice matters. I encourage Republicans across Summit County to attend, get involved, and help choose the delegates who will represent their precincts.”

Pre-registration is encouraged but not required. Additional information about meeting locations, times and how to pre-register or declare candidacy is available on the Summit County Republican Party website.
