Two Lost Snowmobilers Helicoptered to Safety

DUCHESNE RIVER, Utah. — The Wasatch Search and Rescue (SAR) reported a successful rescue last night, February 28th.

“Wasatch 911 Center received a call from someone reporting two lost snowmobilers. The reporting party was able to get text, but only sporadically from the missing party. The two men had abandoned their sleds and were trying to walk out. After fighting the deep snow for a while, the men stopped and built a fire to spend the night. The Wasatch Search and Rescue (SAR) helicopter was able to locate a fire deep in a canyon. The Utah State DPS helicopter was called to assist in the hoist extraction. Both men (ages 31 & 29) were in good shape. Lots of resources were deployed on a very cold night. Wasatch SAR deployed 11 snowmobiles and a helicopter. Duchesne County sent 4 sleds. The state DPS chopper was necessary to get these snowmobilers out safe.” – Wasatch Search and Rescue.
