Gov. Cox: Utahns 16+ eligible for vaccines starting next Wednesday

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah. — Governor Spencer J. Cox announced today that all Utah adults will be eligible to register for COVID vaccines starting next week.

“As of next Wednesday, every adult in the state (and teenagers 16-18 with Pfizer) will be eligible for a vaccination. A vaccine may not be available for you next week, it may take a few weeks, but you can schedule. You can find a vaccination site at getmyshot.utah.gov and for all case updates at coronavirus.utah.gov.”

“We have been very pleased with our vaccination process, we are sixth in the nation for vaccinations given, and we reached a milestone of 1 million vaccinations administered,” he said.

Cox also mentioned that he would like everyone in the state to be vaccinated, and said the state will begin utilizing mobile vaccine units to reach rural and remote areas.

The numbers in Utah today are now at 81% of people 70+ having had their first dosage, with 70% of people 65-69 having had their first dose of the vaccine, and 40% of people 50-64 had their first dose. Cox mentioned that he encourages people to continue to wear masks until all vaccinations are administered.
